TICK-BORNE DISEASES

WHAT TO DO IF A TICK HAS ATTACHED?

If a tick has attached, it is recommended to remove it as soon as possible. Grasp the tick with fine tweezers as close to the skin as possible and carefully pull it out, trying not to squeeze its body. After removal, disinfect the bite area and wash your hands thoroughly.

For approximately the next 30 days, it is recommended to monitor the bite area and your general well-being. If an expanding red rash, fever, headache, weakness or any other unusual symptoms appear, consult a doctor. The rash characteristic of Lyme disease may appear from a few days up to a month after the tick bite, but it does not occur in all cases.
